The drug policy alliance (dpa) warned this week that new laws could wipe out nightclubs and music events across america and urged music fans to support 'a day and night of outrage'
planned for saturday april 24th.
"the justice department is already using the rave act to scare nightclubs away from playing certain kinds of music and now congress is considering legislation that would hold bands,
djs, bartenders, promoters, venue owners, radio stations and others liable if a patron uses drugs at a nightclub or concert," said the dpa. "if enacted, music lovers could soon be unable
to see their favourite band, dj or other entertainment live."
"not only can this legislation shut down the venues we play at, it could even land artists in jail."
the dpa wants individuals to organise local protests under the 'day and night of outrage' banner and are also urging djs and promoters to donate some of their takings on the night, as
well as individuals to support fundraising events and protests.
'members of congress think the american people won't stand up for their rights. on april 24th we're going to prove them wrong.

While I think points here are valid as far as the government being shitheads trying to hold
completely uninvolved others responsible for an individual's conscious choices, I think the
point is REALLY being sidestepped. The point is not who is responsible AT ALL.
The point is that the government is simply trying to stamp out free thinking and any sort of
recreation at all that doesn't offer them control be it through television, or the "education"
system, or organized religion. The idea that people are getting together in a way that the
government or its affiliates don't have complete control over scares the shit out of them.
That people are getting together in large groups, doing business that the government doesn't
get a piece of, can't monitor closely, combined with the possibilities of individuals expanding
their minds and seeing how thick the bullshit really is, and realizing more and more that they
need the government's laws less and less, constitues a threat to the "higher" authorities, and
their abilities to get away with things like...war, home invasion, invasion of privacy, murder
, and these lies about the cooked up terrorist menaces they are using to scare everybody into
ankle grabbing, and smiling while they fuck us all repeatedly.
To refute your point, I think the government needs to go take a flying fuck at the moon,
and realize that people are going to start fighting back more and more against shit like
this. They can only push so far, and then...BOOM! It happens time and time again. Take a
look at our history...France, Britain, South Africa, ANYWHERE. This is another move to try
and squeeze further, and as long as folks accept it as ok...you're gonna keep getting fucked.
Eventually people are going to get fed up, and when cops or feds show up at some event they're
going to run into a whole crowd of pissed off, and heavily armed people, and it's gonna be a
mess. The harder you squeeze sand, the more it slips from your fingers.
Who the government should be going after is the greedy fucks and the fundamentalist idiot
pieces of shit that are using loads of drugs yet trying to persecute others for the same thing,
like...Bush, father and son, Cheney, Rush, shit you name it, all those bastards are on
something. They should go after the assholes on the bench who keep supressing the knowledge
from gettting out so that instead of making laws and filling jails, they make educated people
that don't hurt themselves or others, know how to do what, and what not to do, and the
consequences of doing whatever they feel like doing. They should go after the assholes that
stand in the way of advocacy groups like Dancesafe that teach others how to behave responsibly,
and offer adults the chance to behave as adults, making responsible thought out decisions.
Going after artists, and creative types is a desperate action that will only breed rebellion,
dissent, anger, hatred, and eventually serious damage. You know it, and I know it.
You want to protect live music? Keep playing, fuck the government, and if they try to fine
you...don't pay. Fuck'em. Sooner or later they're gonna get shit thrown in their face. It's
another straw on the camel's back. Play your ass off, and let the people love what you do.
WERD WERD WERD WERD..... YOU CAN'T STOP THIS ARMY OF ROBOTS!!!!
